How to Select an LCD TV

The market for flat screen LCD televisions has grown considerably since the switch-over to digital television.
LCD, which stands for liquid crystal display, is a technology that greatly enhances the viewing quality of your
television. There are several sizes of LCD TVs and selecting the right one for your needs can be a daunting task.
Step1

Select the size screen you want according to the layout of your room. Measure the distance from where you will
place your television to your sitting area. Sitting the correct distance from your LCD TV optimizes the viewing
experience. If you sit too close to the screen, you may see “pixels”-tiny dots-in the picture. For the smaller 20 to
27 inch TVs, the screen should be 2.5 to 5 feet away. Comfortable viewing range for a 32 to 37 inch screen is
generally six feet or more. You should have between 10 and 14 feet of viewing space for a 42 inch television. Any
screen larger than 50 inches should be placed at least 12 feet away.

Step2

Choose the image resolution. If you want the best quality picture and high-definition television, choose a
resolution of no less than 1080p. The more pixels in the screen, the better picture you will have. The cheaper
720p LCD models are “HD Ready” and can but adequately display HD signals from digital broadcasts and Blu-
Ray players.

Step3

Select the right cable connection and inputs and outputs. Make sure your LCD TV’s cable connection is able to
receive HD signals, and that it has plenty of inputs and outputs such as HDMI and VGA to connect to DVD
players and computers.

Step4

Call up Soundwaves Corporation to install and optimize your new TV. Most LCD TVs can be mounted on the wall. The most popular
and least expensive style is the flatwall mount. Select a tiltwall or cantilever mount for viewing from any angle of the room.
These mounts are usually placed in bedrooms and above fireplaces. You can also set your LCD TV on a
television stand, but why take up precious floor space when we can hide your equipment and mount your television to the wall, all controlled by one simple remote. Call Mike today at 508.802.1014
